Achieving Goals and Overcoming Obstacles
Deeksha STEM School, Vidyanagar is a CBSE school whose curricular design and pedagogy are based on STEM i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics which emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning and minimizes rote learning.
The STEM pedagogy does not discount the importance of arts and humanities. It changes the learning dynamics by making experiential learning the foundation of instruction across subjects and topics.
The emphasis on 21st-century skills development, scientific temper, and aptitude for analysis and, innovation make the academic environment holistic. Besides fostering academic excellence, the school also provides conditions conducive to the exploration and development of artistic talent and sportsmanship.

From the Principal’s Desk
Seeing children eager to learn, explore, and perform at their best is every educator’s dream. This dream materializes when the educational environment imbues children with curiosity and nurtures it through multiple modalities. Educators in the digital age have to walk in lockstep with the rapidly evolving technological scenario and constantly innovate beyond the confines of curricular design.
When it comes to maximizing the educational receptiveness of children STEM education is known for pushing the envelope. The core principle of STEM education is that students internalize lessons most effectively when driven by enthusiastic inquiry and coupled with practical application opportunities. Hands-on learning is essential in this context, and at STEM schools, children are encouraged to conduct self-research, critically analyze information, and apply their knowledge. Tinkering Labs, STEM corners, and maker spaces offer the necessary infrastructure to support this innovative approach.
The STEM methodology is not just contemporary but futuristic as well. Our ed-tech implementation aims to personalize learning and assessments, enable blended learning, and equip children with technological acumen from an early age through exposure to robotics, technology literacy, and more. Moreover, value-based education is imparted by integrating elements of the value system into the syllabi of different subjects.
STEM educational methodology drives academic excellence by creating a genuine love for science and technology. Going beyond the confines of the classroom and books, and the ability to learn from every possible context is one of the major achievements of the STEM methodology. The result of such an evolved approach will be a generation of scholars with salient skills in research, exploration, and innovation.
We invite you to explore the diverse, futuristic world of STEM that empowers learners for a disruptive future.
Why STEM?
The world is rapidly evolving. A generation ago, information was equated with knowledge, and a person with a vast repository of information used to be the epitome of erudition. The role of teachers and the education system they represented was conceived to be to simply transfer information to the students. The student outcomes were also gauged by assessing the assimilation and reproduction of information.
Today, information is commoditized and every child with a digital device has unfettered access to information. We no longer need an education system to merely transfer information. What we need is a pedagogical system like STEM to kindle the curiosity in children to self-learn, and train them to analyze and apply that information. Thus, logical and critical thinking skills are the bedrock of a STEM educational ecosystem.
STEM education provides the analytical mindset that children need to navigate the dynamism and complexity of modern industry and society. Their skills must be amenable to change and they must be ready to learn, unlearn, and relearn continually. With logical and analytical thinking skills, children become active learners. They develop the capacity to access information, discern the credibility of the learning resources, and engage/ adapt better to the modern environment.
STEM Methodology
Deeksha STEM Schools strive to redefine learning by putting in place STEM pedagogical innovations which include Enquiry-Based Learning, Experiential Science Learning, and Learning by Design and Communication Proficiency Development.
These are the modalities to develop the critical 4 Cs in students i.e., Critical thinking, Creativity, Communication skills, and Content knowledge. STEM education is crucial for the 21st century because it equips students with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to thrive in an increasingly complex and technology-driven world. STEM education prepares students to understand and navigate this changing landscape, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and innovation.
Core knowledge in each subject is transferred through interactive instructions in a classroom environment that encourages questions and curiosity. Skills such as communication, presentation, teamwork, and media literacy are honed through periodic collaborative projects. Finally, an aptitude for working with one’s hands and making and building is developed through design challenges.

STEM vs Traditional Education

Pillars of STEM
We ensure every Deeksha child has
C H A R I S M A
C : Confidence
Confidence
“When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things.” Joe Namath
Self-confidence helps children believe in their competence and abilities. When they become adults, they will be empowered to overcome fears and obstacles to achieve their goals. This boosts their overall well-being and performance.
H: Hands-on learning
Hands-on learning
“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” Aristotle,
Hands-on learning allows children to experiment by trial and error, learn from their mistakes, and become life-long learners. Children learn better when they can immerse themselves and relate to a subject when it provides direct and practical experience.
A: Analytical Thinking
Analytical Thinking
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”—Albert Einstein
Analytical thinking is a crucial part of mental growth which enables children to solve problems quickly and effectively – becoming efficient decision-makers in life. This skill guides children to gather, understand, organize, visualize, and evaluate the given information and manage it successfully. Analytical thinking is dependent on curiosity.
R: Respect
Respect
“Respect for ourselves guides our morals and respect for others guides our manners” – Laurence Sterne
Being “respectful” is not just a behavior that we ought to display to specific people. Respect is a feeling or emotion that we should have toward everyone/everything around us. It is an inner trait that goes beyond and has to be inculcated in children from their formative years – an endeavor that is adopted sincerely at Deeksha STEM Schools.
I: Inquisitive
Inquisitive
“Curiosity is the beginning of wisdom.” Francoise Sagan
Curiosity is an essential component in the learning journey of children, which drives them to learn new things and discover how things work around them. Children are born explorers and naturally inquisitive. Deeksha STEM Schools is cognizant of this fact, ensuring development of this resource.
S: Sportive
Sportive
“I have failed over and over in my life… That is why I have succeeded!” – Michael Jordan
Sports develop the physical and mental strength in children. Deeksha encourages playing sports as it is the best way to take a break from academics and release suppressed energy. It also helps children lead fuller lives as regular sports and fitness activities have proven to offer not only physical but also social and psychological benefits.
M: Mindful
Mindful
“Our life is shaped by our mind, for we become what we think” – Gautam Buddha
Mindfulness, also known as focused awareness, is a crucial skill for children. It helps them improve their abilities to pay attention, understand emotional regulation, enhance overall focus, and make better decisions. Being mindful also includes the fact that we are aware of our surroundings and our behavior reflects sensitivity towards it.
A: Articulate
Articulate
“A society is made or destroyed by its articulate voices” – Ayn Rand
Articulation in children has always been considered as a priority in their entire learning process. At Deeksha STEM Schools, children are trained to become efficient in various styles of communication. The aim is to help children become clear, convincing, coherent, and respectful in their speech and writing.

Beyond Academics
At Deeksha STEM Schools, we believe in the holistic developmental approach where we account for and encourage talents in the non-academic domains. Towards this aim, we have a variety of co-curricular activities to help children identify, develop, and flourish in their passions and interests. Some of the activities include:
- Yoga
- Karate
- Dance
- Theatre
- Music
- Sports
- Literature and Culture
We approach the co-curricular activities not as peripheral additions to the school calendar but as disciplines in themselves and as instruments for the realization of potential. To that end, the activities are structured in a way to ensure maximum and meaningful participation be it competitive sports, literary activities, creative and performing arts, or social and community exposure.
To ensure that children develop a genuine interest in sports, a structured framework has been designed. There is a wide array of sports and games to pursue at the campus. Children are educated about the rules, technicalities, and nuances of individual sports and games, along with the history of the sport its cultural and national significance. To ensure that every child participates in the sports, all children up until grade 6 are exposed to every sport and game at school. After the preliminary exposure in the lower grades, the children are given a choice to choose their favourite sport to compete and excel in it.
Other co-curricular activities divided into clubs are designed and allocated in a way to give children channels for creative expression and multiple avenues to contribute and participate. There are clubs for music and dance, band, dramatics, yoga, taekwondo, debate, and quizzes to cover the spectrum of creative interests. Every child is given a chance to participate in all different activities up until grade 6, beyond which point, children can choose to pursue their own exclusive interests and excel in them. There are competitive events and showcase events planned for each activity where every child gets to participate.
